We have one year 6 class. The staff in year 6 are Mr Owens (Class Teacher), Miss Lambert (Class Teacher) Miss Smith (Teaching Assistant), Mrs McMorran (Teaching Assistant) and Miss Freestone (Teaching Assistant). If you would ever like to speak to us then we are always available at the beginning and end of the school day or an appointment can be made through the office.

In Year 6, children approach the end of their journey through KS2 and encounter more challenging work. A day in year 6 consists of a literacy lesson from our ‘book rich’ curriculum and maths lessons in the morning. Our afternoons are focused on topic work, in which we look at different areas of the curriculum such as: Science, R.E, Music, History & Geography, P.S.H.C.E, computing and P.E. We also have discrete spelling, reading and handwriting sessions throughout the day.

Homework is given out each week in learning logs. There is also a termly home learning challenge. Children are encouraged to read at home and practise their timetables and spellings.

Key times for Year 6:

Wednesday: P.E. – please remember your P.E. kit and trainers.
Wednesday: Homework due in.
Friday: Spelling test
Friday: Reading Logs to be handed in and Year 6’s Library slot. Homework is set.

Please bring your reading book, reading log and spelling booklets to school with you every day!
